Basil came to us nearly 2 years ago after he very sadly had to be rehomed by his adoring owner due to snapping at the toddler in   the household. Since her arrival a few years ago, Basil had changed, almost overnight. He became very protective and wary of many, many situations that he had previously had no problem with.  Basil had been rehomed once but it hadnt worked out as Basil had become too attached to his new mummy which was causing problems with the other resident pets.... so two weeks later he came in to rescue with us.

After many many months of waiting for someone to understand him, we rehomed him to what we thought was an ideal home... all was going well.... but unfortunately Basil was returned to rescue months later... again. He had snapped at a member of the family... we were at a loss at what to do with poor confused Basil.  We have a non pts policy, but life was looking very bleak for Basil. Once again he was with us for many many months... sat paitiently waiting while other dogs were chosen and went off happily to their new homes... Basil is a confused boy and it seems very few people want a dog that cant be rehomed with children and has issues.... it looked as if Bas was going to become a permanent fixture at CCR until.... well we will let Bas tell his story...

Hi Guys Baz here!

I have had a very eventful last month I have to say! mostly I have discovered that if I snap at anything or bark I have this god awful noise go off near my ears!! but if im quiet and not snapping I get food, thus I have decided now after a weeks battle with the noise that food is better!! not sure quite where the noise comes from but its always there if i misbehave which is very annoying it seems like its following me?? anyhow food is best so behave is what I do!

And of course it was my BIRTHDAY!!Happy Birthday to me Happy Birthday to me Happy Birthday toooo meee Happy Birthday to ME!!! I had a really cool birthday cake from Mum (Pic Below) which made me feel very spoilt!

I did lots of things last month but mostly I have enjoyed doing jumps and going through tunnels!! I love whizzing around at high speed!! Mum discovered how much I liked it so she has let me do it more and now I can do the really skinny hill that goes really high, really quick! Mum shuts her eyes when I do it but I love running over it! I also run up the big hill and down the other side its great. The best bit though is it makes Mum smile and I get food all the way through!!

I had a small holiday where I stayed with Nan and Grandad for the day, I enjoyed this as I got to investigate the new garden and also got some treats and walks. One thing I discovered from my holiday though is not to bark at the bell when I come home or that damn noise goes off again, I seemed to escape it when I was away!!

I spent the day with Mum when she was dressed all smart the other week. I wasn't very happy she left me in the car for a while on my own but then we went to a house with hundreds of people in all looking at their own screens??!! I rolled over and showed my belly to most of the people there and they all stroked me so I was happy! and then I saw my friend Shirley and low and behold she found a biscuit for me so I very much liked my visit to the large house full of people!!

I have seen my girlfirend Gracie lots of times and we are some would say an item!! see below for a picture with Mum we were having dinner together. I do love my Gracie very much as I dont share my dinner with anybody!

One part of last month wasn't so good, I hurt my neck somehow and it was agony so I was very quiet and Mum took me to see the nice people in the white coats that give me biscuits, I was a very good boy and when I was there eating biscuits I felt a scratch but by the time I came out I was feeling better somehow so all is good again now, they must be a magic people in a white coats!!

I also had a very exciting yet very hot day!! Mum and I went to a big field full of dogs which was quite nice as I had lots of sniffing to do! Mum got me to do some more jumps at the start of the day and she seemed happy. Then we went to a ring full of dogs, I was a very good boy as I like to make mum proud so when the man came round to say hello I wagged my tail and got excited as I knew if I was good I would get food! The man gave me lots of strokes and then me and Mum had to walk across the ring and back. After everyone else had a quick walk we got called to the middle and Mum got given a rosette we got a couple of them like that through the day not sure what they are but everyone was impressed and I got more fuss from the nice man when we got one??!! I then did this funny thing where I sat down next to other dogs and Mum walked away, I watched her all the time to check I was doing good then she came back and fed me? then again she made me lay and left me for ages but I didnt let her out of my sight! then she came back, very odd. Then she walked me round the ring, made me sit wait and then called my name so I raced over she was very pleased with me but we didnt get a rosette for this. But at the end of the day I got another rosette for being first from the lady at the jumping place.
Then Mummy picked me up with all my rosettes and we had a picture taken with the nice man, I have seen him before on the big picture at home he looks after other dogs I think but he was very nice to me especially.(see below for my pic)

Anyhow must fly Mums calling!
