Adoption Procedure

Adoption Procedures

If you are interested in finding out more about one of our dogs we would ask that you contact us via telephone or email initially.

Please also download our CCR - potential home questionnaire. * Please note if you save this form in Microsoft Office 2007 or 2010 you will need to enable editing by pressing "enable editing" which appears in the yellow bar at the top of the document*

Once filled in please email to rehoming@cotswoldcaninerescue.co.uk , at this point we will contact you and talk through your application.

Should you meet our criteria, we can tell you more about the dogs we currently have for rehoming.

A home visit will then be carried out, this is for us to see your home environment, meet ALL of your family and look at safety such as fencing in your garden etc to ensure your home environment would a safe place for one or our dogs to be rehomed to.

Following the home visit and providing we are happy so far, we would bring the dog you are interested in, to your home so you can meet and get to know each other.  A couple of days later we would speak again - we like to give you time to really consider taking on a new member of your family.

Should you wish to proceed we would then arrange to bring the dog you would like to adopt to your home.

We require you to sign a rehoming contract which has various stipulations including if you are unable to keep your dog for whatever reason, the dog MUST come back to Cotswold Canine Rescue.  We dont rehome to families with children under the age of 5yrs.

We rehome to the local area whereever possible usually a 30mile radius of West Oxfordshire but sometimes we do home further afield. This is primarily so we are able to do our home visits ourselves and offer support by way of visits etc, if it is needed in the future.

Donations - we ask for a minimum donation of £150 for our dogs (unless there is a special reason why not and we would just ask for a donation if that was the case)  and this donation goes towards helping to pay for veterinary costs of dogs we take in. It costs us around £200 to neuter, vaccinate and microchip a dog that comes into us.

We are always at the end of the phone for any support once you have your new friend at home. Whether this be training or behaviourial issues or just general support. We are always there to help and we absolutely love updates on ex CCR dogs!
